Hot tub guide

We use minimal chemicals to keep the water gentle on skin — a quick rinse from every guest is what makes that possible.

1Start with a rinse

To keep our jacuzzi comfortable and skin-friendly we take pride in using minimal chemicals. We kindly ask all guests to rinse off before getting in to help us uphold this practice.

2Uncover

Fold the cover over and pull it aside to uncover the tub. Please replace the cover when it’s not in use — it holds the temperature and keeps debris out.

3Jets

  • Click JET 1 to activate two speeds.
  • Click JET 2 to disable.
  • The spa should be on STD or ECO mode for all functions to work.

4Lights & temperature

Click the light button to cycle through light modes. Adjust the temperature with the Up / Down arrows.

Fireplace guide

A traditional open fireplace. Firewood is at the back of the gazebo / BBQ area.

1Gather

  • Kindling:pine needles & pine cones
  • Logs: pine or cedar to start, oak for a long burn
  • Firelighter

2Exhaust fan

There’s a knob above the mantle, on the top right, that controls the fireplace exhaust fan. Use it to help draw smoke up and out.

3Build the fire

  • Place kindling in the center in a loose pile so air can move through.
  • Light the kindling and let the flames establish.
  • Add pine or cedar and get the wood burning.
  • Once the fire is steady, add oak for a longer burn.

4Ash

Ash can be removed from the fireplace and placed in the ash bin to the right of the fireplace. Our cleaners take it from there — no need to do anything else with it.

5Safety

It’s an open fireplace, so keep the area in front of it clear and use the screen. Never leave a fire unattended or burning while you sleep or leave the cabin. Indoor fireplace only — Idyllwild has strict fire regulations and no outdoor fires of any kind are permitted.

BBQ guide

Built-in propane BBQ with ceramic briquettes. It lights by hand — the steps below are worth reading before you start.

1Open the propane

Turn the knob on the propane tank to the open position.

2Remove the right grate

Lift off the cooking grate on the right side to reach the burner underneath.

3Set the burner to ignite

Turn the right burner control knob to the ignite position.

4Place the firelighter

Put a firelighter in the circular opening in the burner tube, underneath the ceramic briquettes.

5Light it

Light the firelighter, then push the igniter.

6Replace the grate

Once the flames catch, put the grate back and adjust the control knob to your desired heat.

When you’re done

Please turn the knob on the propane tank back to the closed position. Spare propane tanks are on site — if you run out mid-stay, swap in a fresh one or text us and we’ll sort it out.

Grilling tips

  • Preheat for 10–15 minutes on HIGH for best results.
  • Keep the lid closed as much as possible to hold temperature and flavor.
  • Clean the grates after each use with the brush provided.
  • For flare-ups, move food to a safe zone and close the lid.
  • Use oven mitts and long-handled tools. The grill gets HOT.
  • Cold weather:propane settles when it’s cold — give the tank a few shakes before use.
